The Michigan Division is consolidating fund accounts in order to streamline Michigan Farm & Garden Foundation operations.  The new process gives Branches more control over their gifts and provides greater accountability in tracking the gift to its source.

All Branch scholarships to a local student, or donations made to a local organization, should be made by the Branch directly to the recipient.
Use the Foundation to make gifts only to the following (described below):
  • Michigan Division 4-H Endowment
  • Matthaei Botanical Gardens Student Internship Endowment
  • National and International Funds
Donations made to any other recipient will be refunded. Please note: donations made through the Foundation are credited to the Michigan Division. If it is important that your Branch be specifically credited, your donation should be made directly to the recipient.

Donations to these F&G events and programs – Detroit Zoo and Daffodil Project – are handled differently, and do not go through the Foundation. The A&O Treasurer handles these programs, as well as ACWW Pennies for Friendship donations and annual WNF&GA member dues. See the information under "Not Foundation" below.

If you have questions about making a donation, please contact Pat Brown, Foundation Treasurer, 586-530-7922, before writing a check. It will make it easier for everyone!

MI Division 4-H Endowment: Contributions increase the Endowment corpus and earnings support the following projects:

  • 4-H Children’s Garden for upkeep or as otherwise designated;
  • 4-H Great Lakes Natural Resources Camp

Your donation may be made to the 4-H Endowment in general, or directed specifically to one of the four projects.

Branches may also make donations directly to the Michigan 4-H Foundation, 535 Chestnut, #240 East Lansing, MI  48824. In this instance, the donation will be credited specifically to your Branch.

Matthaei Botanical Gardens Internship Fund: Contributions increase the Endowment corpus and earnings support up to two student interns at Matthaei Botanical Gardens each summer.

NOT FOUNDATION

These are events or projects which raise dollars, primarily by attendance at sponsored events, and are not considered a scholarship or fund.

Detroit Zoo Foundation: Contributions are used for landscaping, gardens and Zoo projects.

Daffodil Project: Donations are used to purchase daffodil bulbs for the restoration and beautification of Belle Isle; donations are typically made during the cycle between the event (April) and planting time (October) but can be made throughout the year. Branch donations made prior to the event will be listed in the luncheon program.

Pennies for Friendship (ACWW): At Council meetings and many Branch meetings, change is collected to support ACWW projects around the world. These donations are handled by the A&O Treasurer.

Membership Dues: Annual Branch payments of member dues for both National and MI Division ($12 per member) are collected by the A&O Treasurer.
