Spirit of Detroit for Daffodils4Detroit
Daffodils4Detroit has been awarded the Spirit of Detroit Award by the Detroit City Council, the President’s Award from Keep Michigan Beautiful, and included in USA Today’s national calendar.
The initial goal of Daffodils4Detroit was to plant 650,000 bulbs on Belle Isle, representing one for each citizen of Detroit. When that was achieved in 2018, the goal increased to 4 million bulbs representing our regional population and we met that goal in 2023.
Now Daffodils4Detroit continues towards a goal of 10 million bulbs (State of Michigan population) planted in the Metro Detroit region. So far, about 4.5 million daffodil bulbs have been planted on Belle Isle and in Metro Detroit with the help of volunteers, the Michigan DNR, and the City of Detroit.
